A Little Wool, a Little Wonder: The Creative Sanctuary Opens November 14!
Something wonderful is happening among the wheat fields of Eastern Washington, and I can hardly believe we're finally here!
After months of tearing out carpet, moving walls, painting, cleaning, and wondering if we'd ever see the end of the dust, we're getting ready to open the doors of the Creative Sanctuary at Felt Art Studio!
Our Grand Opening is November 14, 2026, in Hartline, Washington, and I'd love for you to join us.
What was once a quiet little church, built in 1910, is becoming a place filled with wool, imagination, laughter, and the wonderful possibilities that come from making something with your hands.
It's been quite a journey, and I can't wait to share it with you.

A Creative Sanctuary in the Heart of Eastern Washington
When I first imagined the Creative Sanctuary, I wasn't simply dreaming of a place to teach needle felting and wool sculpture.
I wanted to create somewhere people could come to breathe.
A place where you could set aside the demands of everyday life, try something new without worrying about getting it right, and rediscover the simple joy of creating.
There's something rather lovely about an old church finding a new purpose. These walls have welcomed people for more than a century, and now they'll continue to offer a place for gathering, connection, and a little peace from the outside world.
Only now, there will be considerably more wool!
November Is the Perfect Time for a Little Creative Rejuvenation
As autumn settles over the wheat fields, the days grow shorter, the air gets cooler, and the holiday season begins creeping onto our calendars.
Before long, we're making lists, planning gatherings, finding gifts, and wondering how December arrived quite so quickly.
But what if, before all that busyness begins, you gave yourself a little time to create?
Not because you need to finish something. Not because there's another item on your to-do list. Simply because working with your hands can be a wonderful way to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
You might even create a handmade gift for someone you love. Although I certainly wouldn't blame you if you decided to keep it!
That's what I hope you'll find here at the Creative Sanctuary: a little space to rest, experiment, laugh, learn, and leave feeling renewed.
Discover Our 2027 Needle Felting and Fiber Art Workshops
I'm delighted to announce that our 2027 felting class schedule is now available!
Whether you're completely new to needle felting or have been working with wool for years, our immersive felting studies are designed to help you understand your materials, develop new skills, and find confidence in your own creativity.
We'll explore wool fibers, three-dimensional sculpture, whimsical characters, and the natural world.
More importantly, we'll learn to create through understanding rather than simply following patterns.
Each workshop is intentionally small, allowing time for individual guidance, questions, experimentation, and a little creative wandering along the way.

Sanctuary Saturdays: A Free Creative Gathering
Sometimes you don't need another class. You just need a welcoming place to sit, create, and enjoy the company of others.
That's why we're introducing Sanctuary Saturdays, a free community creative gathering held on the second Saturday of most months.
Bring your knitting, felting, stitching, sketchbook, or whatever creative project has been patiently waiting for your attention.
Don't have a project? No worries! Creative supplies will be available to purchase at the studio.
There's no pressure to finish anything, no expectation to make something wonderful, and certainly no requirement to be an experienced artist.
Just come as you are, find a chair, and enjoy a little creative time.

As I look around this little church and imagine the people who will soon gather here, I'm reminded of why I began this journey.
It wasn't simply to teach people how to felt wool.
It was to create a place where curiosity is encouraged, mistakes are part of learning, and everyone feels welcome to discover what their own hands can do.
Whether you join us for a full-day felting workshop, stop by for a Sanctuary Saturday, or simply come to say hello, I hope you'll find a little peace, inspiration, and perhaps a new creative friend.
Spaces in our 2027 felting workshops are limited, so I encourage you to reserve your place early.

Until then, I'll be here putting the finishing touches on the sanctuary, probably with wool in my pockets and Ginger supervising from somewhere she shouldn't be.
I hope to see you soon!
With warm wishes and a little wool dust,
Emily
